United Kingdom Eurovision Song Contest History
Since the United Kingdom started entering the competition in 1957 it has become a national television event and while the UK's level of success has faltered in recent years it has made stars of some of it's entrants and helped further the careers of other contestants. In the UK the song and artist is chosen by a public vote on the show A Song for Europe, this has been updated for 2009 with the show Your Country Needs You which is hosted by Graham Norton who has replaced the Eurovision figurehead of Terry Wogan who has stepped down from hosting Eurovision.
Current Decade Placing
Since the dawn of the new millennium the stature of the United Kingdom has changed greatly this is in part due to the breakup of the Soviet Union creating many new countries that have been accused of political voting.
