Eurovision Song Contest 2000
The first song contest of the new millennia was held in Sweden at the Global Arena in Stockholm, this was because Sweden had won the 1999 contest with the song "Take Me to Your Heaven" performed in English by Charlotte Nilsson and it is customary fro the previous years winner to host the event. This was to be the 4th time that the contest had been hosted in Sweden and the 2nd in Stockholm. In total 24 countries competed in the event and Latvia made their Eurovision debut.
