Eurovision Song Contest 2001
This was the first time in 36 years that Denmark had hosted the event and in doing so the Danish national broadcaster faced a logistical problem in finding a venue large enough, eventually a football stadium was used that held 38,000 people making it the highest capacity venue in Eurovision history. In total 23 counties competed in this years event and half time entertainment came in the form of the band Aqua.

Big favourites for Eurovision 2001 were France, Greece and Slovenia, however when voting started it became apparent from early on that there were only going to be 2 countries in contention, Estonia and the host nation Denmark, in the end Estonia won by 21 points making up for the disappointment of their Eurovision 2000 entry when they looked like they could win it, also one of the group, Dave Benton became the first coloured entrant to win the Eurovision Song Contest.
