This was the 47th Eurovision Song contest and thanks to the previous years winner it took place at the Saku Suurhall Arena in Tallinn, Estonia with a total of 24 countries taking place.  This year would have been a greater year to place a large bet as the Eurovision betting odds for the eventual Eurovision winner could not have been higher as rank outsiders Estonia  (who had only appeared in the contest as Portugal had declined to appear) romped home followed by Malta.
