Eurovision 2008
The Eurovision Song Contest 2008 was the 53rd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Belgrade, Serbia. The semi-finals were held on 20th May and 22nd of May, and the final was held on 24th May 2008 at the Belgrade Arena in front of an audience of 20,000. One of the hosts of the show Zeljko Joksimovic caused a minor controversy as he actually written the lyrics for the Serbian entry.

Final
The finalists for Eurovision 2008 were:
- The big four France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom
- The host country Serbia
- The top nine countries from the first semi-final plus one wildcard from the juries (Poland)
- The top nine countries from the second semi-final plus one wildcard from the juries (Sweden)
The final was held on 24th May 2008 and was won by the Russian entrant Dima Bilan. Russia's victory was questioned by Ukrainian officials later in May 2008, whose representative was the runner-up, this did not lead to any change in the contests final standings.

Dima Bilan
Dima Bilan is a major pop star in his native Russia and is no stranger to the Eurovision Song Contest as he represented Russia in Eurovision 2006 coming in 2nd place with the song "Never Let You Go". In 2007 he recorded his first international album that is due to be released in 2008, there will be three different language versions of this, it will be available in English, Spanish and Russian. Since winning the contest he has worked with acclaimed singer/producer Timbaland and singer Nelly Furtado.
