As the song contest approaches its 59th outing it is becoming apparent who the front-runners in this market are with France and the United Kingdom currently leading the way.  Now each country has selected its song and performer, which is often conducted by TV judging much in the same way as the UK used to use its 'Your Country Needs You' (before opting this year to use Blue) to decide on its representative there is a period of weeks before the contest itself during which the PR machines are whirring throughout the continent.

As each entry receives more air play it becomes clear that there are particular favourites emerging and hence early front runners are recognised by the bookmakers.

Host countries usually do well, much in the same way as hosts of the Olympics or other sporting events usually enjoy a home advantage, so Norway would be expected to be in the leading pack at the end.
