United Kingdom - Josh Dubovie
Josh Dubovie won the National Competition, 'Your Country Needs You', to improve on Jade Ewen and Lloyd Webbers' fifth place in last year outing to Russia.
Pete Waterman and Mike Stock ,of Stock, Aitken And Waterman fame, producers of numerous 80's classics and launchers of Kylie Minogue's career obviously felt that Lloyd Webber's participation gave the competition new credence and were happy to have a stab at the main prize. Their song, 'That Sounds Good To Me', is pure Waterman catchy pop camp, out of place in the domestic charts but quite possibly perfect for the Eurovision audience. Eurovision songs have to have immediate impact int their 3 minute stage so visual effect and a tune that beds itself in the brain is vital. Whether Josh can be groomed sufficiently to command sufficient admiration is questionable but the song certainly sits in the memory banks laong after it has finished.
