Your Country Needs You
In recent years the UK public has had the opportunity to decide which song will be representing the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest. This years show was called Your Country Needs You, it has gone under the names A Song for Europe, Great British Song Contest, Eurovision: Making Your Mind Up and Eurovision: Your Decision.

What made this years competition stand out was that behind the format of the show this year was the West End theatre director Andrew Lloyd-Webber who composed the song and had lyrics written by Diane Warren; a famous song writer who has written for Cher, Aerosmith, Celine Dion and Bad English amongst many many others.
2009 UK Entry
The winner of the show was Jade Ewen, an actress who has performed in The Lion Kind, a West End show in the United Kingdom as well as in TV shows like Casualty and The Bill. She was also part of a short lived pop group called Trinity Stone.
